The Douglas Police Department and radKIDS have teamed together

to teach children how to protect themselves from violence.

What is radKIDS…

A nonprofit educational organization, radKIDS, Inc. is dedicated to providing proven and effective life saving skills for children by teaching them how to “Resist Aggression Defensively.”

The program’s comprehensive Personal Empowerment Safety Education curriculum, designed for children 5 - 11 years of age, is based on accelerated learning theory and realistic physical resistance options to escape violence. Curriculum topics range from Home and School Safety, to Out and About Safety, to Stranger Tricks, to Realistic Defense Against Abduction, as well as Good, Bad, and Uncomfortable Touch. Through radKIDS training, children become empowered and learn to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills, and self-esteem.

From CBS News…

· A law enforcement survey found that 115 missing children, in the year studied, fit the description of a stereotypical kidnapping.

· In 40% of stereotypical kidnapping  cases, the child was killed.

· Nearly half of those victims were sexually assaulted.

· In 10% of those cases, the abductions lasted longer than 24 hours.

· 69% of those victims were girls.

You can’t be with your kids 24 hours a day…

Empower your children with the skills they need to stay safe in today’s society.

Building A Safer World One Child At A Time

It is an unfortunate and sad fact, but a reality of the world in which we live today, that children are abducted and abused everyday. It is also a fact that abductors and abusers select children as victims because they are weaker than adults, more trusting, and far easier to lure into dangerous situations.

These predators can be stopped, however, by teaching children how to identify and take control of dangerous situations to protect themselves from harm.

Together, the Douglas Police Department and radKIDS offers a unique opportunity to enroll children in a nationally recognized program that teaches children lifesaving skills.

After just five, two-hour sessions (10 hours of instruction), children will be more assertive and capable of fending off harm. These children learn lifesaving skills in an active and friendly environment.

Participants will receive:

· Specialized and personal safety education

· A certificate with their photo and thumb print

· Plenty of stickers!!!!
