About Us: |
|
Thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Douglas and supporters of the Douglas Police Association we were able to purchase a new dive rescue boat this year. This boat can transport four fully equipped divers along with a boat operator to an incident scene. It can be launched in as little as 5 inches of water and has a fold down platform for divers. The boat is called a ‘Connector Boat’ because it can be attached to other boats, of this manufacture, to create a working dock, a bridge, or other working platform. |

Ice Dive 2007
All members of the Douglas Dive Rescue Team volunteer their time. Each member has purchased, uses, and maintains their own gear. I would like to thank their family's for their patience and understanding on the countless hours they have given to the successful operation of the team. |

Douglas Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit
The ESU is used as a mobile command center and for incident staging. The vehicle was donated by a company in Worcester to the Douglas Police Association. The vehicle has been remodeled to include a desk, storage bins, and rescue equipment. The work on the van has been done by members of the Douglas Police Association volunteering their time and funds from various fund raisers. Several local businesses also volunteered their services to paint the van, build the dispatch desk, and the decaling of the ESU. Thank you for effort and support!! |

The Douglas Dive Rescue Team trains with area towns and instructors from Dive Rescue International out of Oregon.
Dive Rescue International has trained public safety divers across North America and the world. Divers and land support personnel from the Douglas Dive Rescue Team have completed Dive Rescue 1 class which is 3 extended days of classroom, pool, and open water training. The above photo was taken after a mock water rescue scenario. |

Do you have a pool? Live near a pond? Do you have infants or young children? Children as young as 11 months can learn to survive a water incident. Click on this link to see an amazing video of an 11 month old infant after learning hot to survive.
