The Douglas Police Department maintains an active and ongoing Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program and has been doing so for the past 12 years. In close cooperation with the Douglas School Department, Officer Brett D. Fulone teaches the program’s core curriculum to 10 and 11 year-old fifth-grade students in the Douglas Intermediate School. The 10-week program involves discussion and instruction in the areas of Peer Pressure, Decision-Making Skills, Resistance Techniques, Drug Identity and Recognition, Advertising, etc. The program culminates with a graduation celebration that recognizes each student’s personal accomplishment and achievement. |

The Douglas Dive Rescue Team is made up of both divers and surface support personnel. The team is made up of 7 police department members, 2 fire department members, and 1 civilian. Click here to see our web page. |

The Douglas Police Department has 3 mountain bikes in operation. Bikes are used for patrol and special events. Five members of the department have completed C.O.B.W.E.B. training for mountain bike use. |

Working through the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council several departments have joined resources and personnel to create highly trained accident reconstruction team. This team investigates accidents resulting in death or serious injury through out the central Mass. area. |

Officer Phil |
|
The Officer Phil program helps to educate children about safety, crime prevention, values, and responsibility in a way they will not only understand, but will also remember. The Officer Phil program transmits community standards and builds respect for strengthen relationships with authority figures such as parents, police, and educators. |

Blackstone Valley Drug Task Force |
|
Douglas is an active member in the Blackstone Valley Drug Task Force. Several area departments utilize and pool resources to help combat illegal drug use in the area. |
